  • Notes: Main store JHB
James Rosenquist was an American artist and a key figure of the pop art movement. Rosenquist's works often explored the role of advertising and consumer culture in art and society, utilising techniques he learned while working as a sign painter to depict popular cultural icons and everyday objects. As is evident in Moon Beam Mistaken for the News, Rosenquist often included elements of surrealism using fragments of advertisements and cultural imagery to emphasise the overwhelming nature of ads.
